Michelle and Bree share their different experiences of pregnancy in a very raw and open way. Michelle was Emetophobia-Free during her pregnancy, Bree still had her Emetophobia.

The podcast begins with the common question ‘How could someone with Emetophobia consider getting pregnant in the first place?’. Bree dives straight in with a brilliant insight into how her high desire for control and the power of her beliefs all played a role in her decision to fall pregnant whilst suffering with Emetophobia.

The discussion then moves onto how desire for control, low self-esteem, social anxiety and unhelpful thinking styles all factor into how well you manage the different parts of pregnancy i.e. the changes in your body, hormones, morning sickness, doctor’s appointments, not telling anyone about your pregnancy for the first 12 weeks, birth plans, listening to the opinions of others and the pressure we put on ourselves as future parents to get everything right.

The podcast ends with some active ways to prepare yourself for the discomforts of pregnancy with a few challenges you can try at home.

Michelle and Bree will be back soon with another podcast about birth, postpartum and motherhood.
