When Doctors Can’t Explain Your Child’s Symptoms

Hello!

We have several new podcast episodes available that showcase powerful stories of transformation from people who have overcome Emetophobia! Today, we’re highlighting one that many parents will find especially eye-opening.

No Doctors Could Explain My Daughter’s Constant Nausea

When Annabel’s 7-year-old daughter Charlotte started experiencing mysterious stomach aches, nausea, and difficulty staying in school, it began an 8-year quest for answers that medical professionals couldn’t provide.

Charlotte’s experiences included:

  •     Motion sickness and difficulty eating
  •     Struggles with travel and only eating packaged foods
  •     Panic attacks from fear of becoming sick
  •     Physical symptoms like neck scratching

After years of searching, it was Charlotte herself who discovered the term “emetophobia” at age 15 after struggling with her fear for 8 years! Finally having a name for what she was experiencing led the family to the Emetophobia-Free programme—and to fully overcoming her fear.

“Charlotte is now loving her life, has passed her driving test, sat all of her exams and no longer suffers with the fears and worries that used to restrict her life so much.”

Recognizing Emetophobia in Children

If your child is showing symptoms that doctors struggle to explain, consider these potential signs of emetophobia:

  •     Unexplained “stomach aches” and nausea – Especially before school or social events
  •     Restrictive eating patterns – Only eating certain “safe” foods or avoiding restaurants
  •     Anxiety around travel – Particularly in cars, planes, or public transportation
  •     Excessive concern about others being sick – Fear of contamination or catching illness

Not only did Charlotte overcome Emetophobia but after witnessing her daughter’s transformation, Annabel was inspired to become a coach herself to help other families in similar situations!
