Emetophobia Has No Gender: Kane’s Journey to Emetophobia-Free

Hello!

Research suggests most emetophobia sufferers are female.

Kane’s story proves it can affect anyone.

He developed emetophobia while serving in the Royal Navy in his 20s, and over the years it got progressively worse.

In his words, his life became “bland.” He didn’t get excited. Didn’t enjoy experiences. Didn’t even know who he’d become.

He avoided social events, created excuses, and restricted his life so much that he didn’t look forward to anything whatsoever.

COVID made everything worse – giving him the perfect excuse to completely limit his experiences. The catastrophic thinking and desperate need for control just kept spiraling.

Then he hit rock bottom.

After many conversations with his wife, Kane found the Emetophobia-Free programme. Everything changed.

The breakthrough:

✓ Started listening to the podcast – hearing real stories from real people

✓ Learned about himself as much as the phobia

✓ Improved his self-esteem, confidence, and “all-consuming” anxiety

✓ Completed the actions to prove his own power, even when it felt overwhelming

✓ Trusted the process completely

In his coach Phillipa’s words: “Kane knew what he wanted to fix, and just did it. He applied himself, took responsibility, and trusted the process. He understood he was creating the phobia, and despite it not being his fault, knew it was his responsibility to overcome it.”

Kane says, “Since grabbing the programme by the horns, I’ve never looked back.”
