The full presentation
Emetophobia, explained in full
Rob Kelly’s complete presentation from National Emetophobia Awareness Day: eighty minutes on what emetophobia is, how people produce it, and why most treatments for it miss.
What he covers
What the fear actually is, and what causes it. How people create and then maintain it, through the beliefs and thinking styles underneath. Why most treatments for it are ineffective — and what the programme does instead.
At the end of the talk an ex-sufferer, Sarah, describes how she overcame her own emetophobia.
The survey he refers to
In our research survey into the programme, all 62 participants overcame their emetophobia. The figures are set out in full on the book page and on the science page.
If you would rather read it
Everything in the talk is in the Emetophobia-Free manual, worked through step by step with the exercises that go with it. It is in the shop, with editions for adults, young people and teenagers.
There is also a whole day of it filmed, free: the seminar videos.
Bella Ramsey had this too.
And came out the other side.
“It’s not controlling my life anymore.”
The BAFTA-winning actor — The Worst Witch, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us — was housebound at one point as a teenager, and took travel sickness tablets and antacids to get through a working day on set. They had tried self-help books, CBT and hypnotherapy. None of it worked.
Bella went through this programme, and describes no longer thinking about sickness, no longer being frightened of it, and no longer letting it decide what they can and can’t do. They talk about all of it, openly, in their own words.
