A Changed Woman!
A Changed Woman! …… “I suffered from debilitating emetophobia since a very young age. I haven’t really pinpointed a moment in my young life when it was ‘triggered’ but it got progressively worse as the years went by (and my responsibilities grew!)
Finally, early this year when the norovirus season was at its peak and the media were having a field day printing dramatic headlines such as: ‘WORSE NOROVIRUS OUTBREAK IN HISTORY CLAIMS OVER ONE MILLION VICTIMS ACROSS THE UK. My self preservation techniques would have made someone with the most severe case of obsessive compulsive disorder look relaxed and uncompulsive. I was on sleeping pills because the anxiety kept me awake, sometimes for days. I would miss work if I knew someone somewhere in the office had come into contact with a sick person, I took my own cutlery to friends houses and restaurants and I would refuse to see any friends or family who had been ill in the last month. I spent hours reading every description of norovirus online and devoured every prevention article, every news story and every wikipedia page devoted to anything to do with it. It was ruining my life.
After the fourth tearful call to my mother in one week, she told me that if I didn’t seek help soon, I would lose my job and probably most of the people in my life (not including my family of course, it wasn’t a threat!). I had heard that hynotherapy was often used with phobias as was aversion therapy (which was absolutely out of the question in my mind) so I started Googling hypnotherapy practices in my area and came across a therapist in Bristol (Danny Nuttall) who I contacted and arranged a preliminary consultation.
Danny introduced me to the Thrive Programme and for the next 6 weeks, we worked through each stage of ‘Cure Your Emetophobia & Thrive’ , the most revolutionary cognitive thinking therapy programme I have ever come across. Not only does Thrive teach you about how you think, it also gives you so many answers for why things have been the way they are in your life. It teaches you how to change your life and provides you with the skills to do that.
I am now proud to say that I am not emetophobic. Not only that, but Thrive has spilled over into every corner of my life. Having previously been someone with low self-esteem, high anxiety and low social confidence, Thrive has changed how I think about myself and my life, how I deal with each and every problem I face and has even helped me overcome illness and heartbreak.
I had no idea the effect that this book would have on me but the difference it has made in my life is astonishing so I felt the need to spread the word. I couldn’t recommend this book highly enough, it’s most solid investment you could ever make. I pick mine up every day and read little sections whenever I feel like it so that it’s a constant, peaceful and nurturing presence in my every day life.
If you suffer from emetophobia and want help, get this book and prepare to have your mind blown and your life kicked into the shape you’ve always wanted it to be in!!”
